Remedial massage uses various techniques to create an experience that helps the body and mind restore its resilience, reduce tension, stress and enhance wellbeing and healing
Remedial Massage can help reduce tension, relieve stress , manage pain and reach an overall sense of well-being.
Massage not only feels good but can be an important component to overall well-being and health.
Prenatal massage shares many of the goals of regular massage – to relax tense muscles, ease sore spots, improve circulation and mobility, and just make you feel good. But it's also tailored specifically to the needs of pregnant women and their changing bodies, and therapists who are trained in prenatal massage adjust their techniques accordingly.
Therapeutic massage is a general term that describes any type of massage modality that helps relieve pain, reduce stress, and work on a specific problem—such as a frozen shoulder. People tend to assume therapeutic massage means deep tissue massage, and that they will get a very strong massage.
Relaxation massage is a gentle Swedish style massage technique that uses smooth, gliding strokes to help you relax. The massage therapist will generally move at a slower pace and use lighter pressure. There is less emphasis on working out serious adhesions or "knots" in the muscle tissue, which can be uncomfortable and cause some people tense up against the pressure. It's a good choice for someone who is getting a massage for the first time, or someone who just wants to bring their stress level down.
When muscles and tendons become damaged or impaired, knotted and tense or immobile, Remedial Massage provides a healing treatment that can be gentle or strong, deep or shallow. Remedial massage holistically treats the whole body and traces the discomfort as far as possible back to the original cause, healing both the cause of the disorder as well as the symptoms. It uses several specialised techniques to locate and repair damage and to support and speed up the body's own repair mechanisms. The massage is applied directly to the skin using oil, which ensures that the muscles associated with the disorder and mobilisation of the joint are deeply penetrated.
Children grow at a rapid rate, and during that time their muscles and connective tissue may struggle to keep up. This can result in them muscle and joint soreness, sleeping problems, & headaches. Treatment options are varied and are tailored to a wide variety of ages. We often use stretches, heat bags, massage and with the parent’s/child’s consent, gentle cupping and dry needling. If postural issues are a concern, kinesio taping can be used to improve posture and to provide cues to sit/stand better. They then learn to instinctively know when a massage is needed or that they need to stretch. Children's massage treatments can take place in as little as 30 minutes, and for those with private health insurance, are often covered by their provider.
